Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Part Time Engineering Intern in Richmond, Virginia. The Engineering Intern is responsible for assisting Power Systems Sales personnel with vendor transactions, switchgear and panel retrofit projects, parts orders, shipping, coordination and processing paperwork to facilitate sales. Seeking candidates with high school diploma or GED required. Currently enrolled as a full time student in a 4 year engineering degree program.
Requirements for the Engineering Intern position include:
- Self-starter able to work with limited supervision
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude required.
- Must be able to read wiring diagrams and follow during the assembly process.
- Proficient with AutoCAD- reading, modifying and preparing drawings.
- Proficient using Adobe, Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Proficient in using the Internet to obtain information.
- Must be able to organize, control and archive documentation.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Must meet physical requirements for the Engineering Intern job, including the ability sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. Able to lift, carry and maneuver items up to 20 pounds in weight. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
