Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Power Systems Division (PSD) Product Support Industry Manager in Richmond, Virginia. The PSD Product Support Industry Manager is responsible for maximizing profitable aftermarket sales and support for Electric Power equipment, Marine engines, Industrial engines, Gas Compression equipment, and any related ancillary equipment and services within Carter Machinery's territory. The individual in this position will oversee assigned sales personnel's projects and activities, ensure customer satisfaction and create and propose an annual sales plan and budget for approval. Seeking candidates with a bachelor's degree in a business-related field. Minimum five years in high-level sales management experience preferred.
Requirements for the PSD Product Support Industry Manager position include:
- Thorough product knowledge with the ability to effectively market equipment to customers, negotiate terms and close deals.
- Self-starter with proven industry sales and leadership experience.
- Strong business acumen including but not limited to budgeting, financial analysis, forecasting and managing P&L statements.
- Must possess ability to guide sales staff in the development and execution of action plans that produce sales results. Must be able to effectively coach and mentor a team of technical sales professionals.
- Must be able to monitor the business environment to support and guide management in identifying and addressing business opportunities and challenges.
- Excellent customer satisfaction skills and the ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
- Must be a good listener with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong PC skills and the ability to self-develop and adapt to changing technology.
- Must be able to handle large volumes of work in a fast-paced environment, quickly evaluate facts and maintain good judgment when making decisions and solving problems.
- Some travel is required – overnight or out of town via car or airplane.
- Must be able to work shifts needed, including days, nights, and/or weekends to meet customer demands.

Physical requirements must be met for the PSD Product Support Industry Manager job, including the ability sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. Able to lift, carry and maneuver items up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
