Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Used Parts Sales representative in Salem, Virginia at our corporate headquarters. The Used Parts Sales representative position is responsible for effectively selling used parts and service sales; negotiating prices; and responding to all customer used parts inquiries. Seeking candidates with previous experience in the Heavy Equipment industry preferred.
Requirements for the Used Parts Sales representative position include:
- Thorough understanding of machine Used Parts.
- Excellent negotiation skills to achieve win-win.
- Must be a self-starter.
- Must have excellent customer service skills.
- Must have strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform duties with a sense of urgency while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Technical aptitude.
- Must be able to multi-task and have good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands.
- Exceptional customer satisfaction skills and the ability to build solid relationships.
- Must have excellent written, verbal, and telephone communication skills.
- Must be able to understand and practice effective sales techniques.
- Computer skills are required, including Microsoft products and other applications as needed; with ability to learn Caterpillar’s “Dealer Business System” (DBS) and related rental software programs.
- Must be able to work additional hours as needed to meet business and customer demands.

Physical requirements must be met for the Used Parts Sales representative job, including frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus. As needed will be required to assemble Hydraulic Hoses as well as well as general parts warehousing functions. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
