Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Quality Engineering Intern in Richmond, Virginia. The Quality Engineering Intern is responsible for assisting Power Systems quality engineering personnel with analyzing supplier defect data, performing equipment inspections, maintaining quality documentation, and making suggestions to improve quality systems. Additional duties include preparing and delivering project status reports and assisting Quality Engineers with root cause analysis of defects. Seeking candidates with progress towards Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field preferred.
Requirements for the Quality Engineering Intern position include:
- Self-starter able to work with limited supervision.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude required.
- Basic understanding of quality assurance terminology, methods, and tools.
- Familiarity with root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
- Requires ability to move between projects as priorities change.
- Requires ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple competing tasks and demands.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Physical requirements must be met for the Quality Engineering Intern job, including regularly being required to stand; walk and talk or hear.
