Handyperson – Tool Room

Key qualifications:
- Must be computer proficient
- Ability to operate a forklift and various shop equipment
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Strong communication skills
- Strong organization skills
- Demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude, familiarity with construction equipment shop a plus
- 2 years’ experience in a repair shop environment or completion of mechanical trade school or equivalent a plus
Responsibilities:
Support the operations of the service department by successfully maintaining the tool room while organizing, tracking and accounting for its contents
- Maintain tool room in a clean and organized manner
- Maintain an accounting of tools checked out/checked in
- Manage shop supplies inventory and ensure charge out to jobs
- Properly select and use basic hand tools as well as special tooling identified in service literature
- Maintain tools in proper working condition; notifying supervisor when tools are beyond repair and should be replaced
Maximize the efficient use of service and repair procedures to provide fast, accurate service and minimize unnecessary expense
- Receive and execute work instructions from foreman
- Plan and execute maintenance and minor repairs
- Effectively communicate status of work with shop foreman
- Properly use service and parts literature to write a correct parts list and research technical information including using the SIS computer system
- Provide service report upon completion of job
Successfully contribute towards building a culture of safety through completion of all safety initiatives and demonstrating safe work habits
- Complete/attend all safety meetings, computer-based safety training, safety audits and other safety training as assigned
- Work in a proactive, safe manner in compliance with all safety practices, policies and training
- Immediately resolve and/or report all safety issues to supervisor
- Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with all Contamination Control Initiatives
- Safely and properly use lifting devices such as chain slings, straps and cranes

- Grip (30lbs. with both hands, 80lbs. with preferred/single hand)
- Foot pedal operation
- Climbing stairs and ladders
- Crawling, low work (kneeling), and awkward positioning
- Outdoor work (as required)
- Wearing 10-20lbs. of protective clothing, including fire resistant clothing, welding helmet/shield, & ANSI-rated protective footwear (as required)
